In Kupiansk, the number of Russian troops is steadily decreasing due to the effective actions of Ukrainian defenders. One of the buildings where the enemy had been holding defenses was destroyed by Special Operations Forces fighters (SSO), according to a post from the 8th Special Purpose Regiment of the Special Operations Forces named after Prince Iziaslav Mstislavich.

In the video, a Special Operations Forces group conducts reconnaissance and makes contact in an urban area.

"During the reconnaissance, the SSO group encountered the enemy in one of the buildings. The enemy had superior forces and fortified firing positions. The SSO group broke contact without any losses," the Ukrainian defenders reported.

Subsequently, the building where the Russian troops had been holding defenses was completely destroyed using TM-72 mines.

Fewer than 50 Russian soldiers now remain in Kupiansk — they are cut off from each other and from the main forces of the Russian army due to disrupted logistics. According to estimates from several RBC-Ukraine sources, there may have previously been around 70 Russian soldiers in the city.

Battles for Kupiansk

In September, Russian forces managed to break into the city by using a gas pipeline, which sharply escalated the situation in this direction. Enemy sabotage groups entered Kupiansk from the north.

Later, the Ukrainian Armed Forces blew up the pipeline the occupiers were using, forcing them to cross the Oskil River on rafts and boats.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are preventing the Russian army from gaining a foothold in the northern part of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region. Despite Russian attempts to hold their positions and set up fortifications, Ukrainian soldiers are actively counterattacking and driving the enemy out of the lines they had seized.

Recently, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine plans to fully clear Kupiansk of Russian troops.
