The Spanish national team defeated the French team in the semifinals of the European Championship, according to the match result.
UEFA Euro 2024, Semifinals
Spain - France - 2:1
Goals: Yamal, 21', Olmo, 25' - Kolo Muani, 9'
From the first minutes, both teams were active. The Red Fury missed an opportunity early on when Olmo failed to head accurately after Yamal's cross. France responded almost instantly with Mbappe assisting Kolo Muani who found the net.
The missed goal spurred Spain into action. Meanwhile, the French team began looking for opportunities for counterattacks. Spain, under the guidance of Luis de la Fuente, responded before halftime by equalizing. Yamal intercepted Rabiot and elegantly placed the ball into the net from 20 meters out.
The momentum continued as Spain took the lead in the 25th minute. Olmo intercepted in the opponent's penalty area, skillfully bypassed Tchouameni, and fired with his right foot beyond Maignan into the far corner. Kounde tried to stop the ball, but it flew into the net off his deflection.
Maintaining the same pace until halftime was challenging for both teams. Thus, the final determination of the winner was postponed to the second half. France attempted to intensify their attacks near Simon's goal. However, The Red Fury goalkeeper remained confident within the frame, handling shots from Tchouameni and Mbappe.
Creating new chances became exceedingly difficult for the French. Hernandez's defensive mistake led to a shot over the crossbar outside the penalty area. In the 81st minute, a shot above the crossbar followed from a flank displacement and Yamal. Later, Mbappe swung Vivian in the penalty area but missed the target.
Ultimately, the French team couldn't equalize, and Spain became the first finalist of Euro 2024. Tomorrow, England will determine the second contender for the Henri Delaunay Trophy in their match against the Netherlands national team.
