Russian-written song to be sung at Eurovision 2025 - Russia`s gleeing

At the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, Ireland will be represented by the Norwegian singer EMMY with the track “Laika Party”, written by the former Russian Larissa Tormey. This fact was very welcomed by propagandists in Russia.
What`s known about 'Laika Party'?
The song, which won the Irish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 according to the results of both the audience and the jury, tells the story of the Soviet dog cosmonaut Laika, the first animal to be launched into Earth orbit, which was launched into space on November 3, 1957, on the Sputnik 2 ship.
Although this song has a rather cheerful melody and can be danced to, it sings about the death of Laika, who died on the ship 5-7 hours after the start of the flight from stress and overheating. However, the EMMY still believes that “Laika never died” and “dancing every night among the stars.”
Some eurofans wrote in the comments to the song that it was the most gloomy song they had ever heard at a song contest.
“This song is based on a true story about a little dog named Laika who went into space before humans. We want to honor her memory with this slightly danceable and positive track,” says one of the song's composers.
Interestingly, this song to honor the memory of Laika, the little dog who flew into space before humans was written by Irish singer, songwriter, and composer Larissa Tormey, who was born in Russia but moved to Europe 20 years ago, together with a team of Norwegian authors. And this did not go unnoticed in Russia.

Russians` reaction on Laika song
One of those who reacted the loudest to the fact that such a Soviet song would be performed at the Basel competition was propagandist Andrei Malakhov.
“The abolition of Russian culture is canceled. The Irish country music star Larissa Tormey, born in the Soviet Union and married to a farmer (this is not an alligator guide like Lana Del Rey's, but it's not bad either), wrote a song dedicated to the first dog-cosmonaut Laika and her flight! This song will represent Ireland at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Basel,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Ordinary Russians are also very happy about this fact.
- Cool, the only normal song at Eurovision in the last 10 years!
- I'm not going to watch anyway, but I wish Ireland a victory!
- The world lacks such good and bright songs. I wish them to win.
- Finally, a good song without propaganda of Satanism and sodomy!
In February 2022, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) expelled Russian broadcasters from the organization, which automatically deprived the country of the right to participate in Eurovision. The EBU argued that Russia's participation would damage the reputation of the contest and contradict its values, including bringing people together through music.
Recently, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed a decree to restore the Intervision contest, which in Soviet times was considered a kind of Soviet response to Eurovision. It is to be held in Moscow this year and, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, “will be held without perversions.”
Who is Larissa Tormey?
Larissa Tormey was born in Bashkortostan before the collapse of the USSR.
In an interview with RGM magazine, she said that her mom is from Belarus and her dad is from Tatarstan, and neither of them spoke Russian when they were students.
In the early 90s, she toured extensively and had her own music school for gifted children. In 2001, she moved to Ireland. Since then, she has released several music albums in the genres of country, folk, and pop. The woman says she draws inspiration from the rich traditions of Irish folk music.

In addition to a highly successful solo career, she is a well-known songwriter: she writes music for participants in the national finals for Eurovision Song Contest , K-Pop and EDM artists, etc.
Larissa supports Ukraine. In 2022, she organized concerts in Ireland to raise money to help Ukrainians.
“My heart bleeds for all those people who are forced to flee Ukraine with their belongings in a small suitcase. It is shocking. This should never have happened in our time,” she said in an interview with the Sunday World.

She said that the last time she was in Russia, she was “very impressed with the younger generation.”
“I thought: how wonderful it is - this is a new bright future for Russia. And now... I'm shocked to see what's happening now... It's terrible to see the country returning to the old days,” she said of Russians.
