South Korea introduces new sanctions against North Korea
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea has announced new sanctions against individuals and organizations associated with North Korea's nuclear and missile programs, Reuters reports.
According to the ministry, the sanctions target 2 individuals, 3 organizations, and 11 ships linked to North Korea's nuclear and missile programs.
South Korea imposed sanctions on North Korea just days after it launched a new solid-fuel hypersonic medium-range missile. The missile launch was condemned by the United States and South Korea as a serious violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.
North Korea's military policy
North Korea occasionally asserts its nuclear state status and regularly conducts ballistic missile tests. These tests raise concerns in the United States, South Korea, and Japan.
It was previously reported that North Korea claimed to have conducted tests of a hypersonic solid-fuel ballistic missile.
We also reported that North Korea launched a ballistic missile toward the Sea of Japan, causing alarm in Japan.
