Sony has announced a price increase for its PlayStation 5 gaming console starting April 2, citing rising component costs, according to the company’s press service.
“Given the ongoing pressures in the global economy, we have decided to increase prices for the PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal worldwide. We understand this affects our community, and after careful consideration, we concluded this is a necessary step to continue delivering a premium gaming experience globally,” the company stated.
The Japanese electronics manufacturer said the price adjustment is driven by the memory market crisis. The updated recommended retail prices for PS5 consoles will take effect on April 2, 2026.
