Some hotheads ready to deploy troops to Ukraine after war ends, Zelenskyy says

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says that some countries are ready to send their troops to Ukraine, but only after the war is over. He told the reporters that they are hotheads who are eager to act.
“Anyway, all this will happen at the end of the war. You understand that no one will risk sending their troops to Ukraine to be drawn into hostilities. Or, if no one, then the majority,” the president said.
Zelenskyy also pointed to the Coalition of the Willing, among whose members are some hotheads ready to send their military contingents to Ukraine.
However, even in this case, a ceasefire must be the first step for diplomatic action to continue.
“We are very supportive of that,” he said, referring to the readiness of some countries to participate in military operations.
But without a ceasefire, it is difficult to talk about further steps, Zelenskyy added.
Peacekeeping mission
In recent weeks, European countries and the United States have been discussing the prospects of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine as part of security guarantees.
Volodymyr Fesenko, head of the Penta Center of Applied Political Studies, told RBC-Ukraine that Russia might refuse this format if the peacekeeping force included European troops.
Meanwhile, US president Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that European countries should take the lead in this matter and send their peacekeepers to Ukraine. Trump does not plan to involve American troops in this process.
