On June 21, when the summer solstice arrives, it's not just a special astrological event — it's also an opportunity to invite happiness into your life. To do so, you need to follow the rules of this day and know a few simple rituals. Ukrainian numerologist and astrologer Tetiana Blank explains what to do on the solstice and which taboos to keep in mind.

Solstice guidelines

"The Sun enters the sign of Cancer. This is the peak of light — the day when the Sun reaches its highest point in the sky, and the night is at its shortest. The solstice is a time of generosity and abundance, a celebration of life itself, and the height of the calendar year. Any rituals, wishes, or intentions are magnified tenfold on this day. Nature is at its fullest," Blank explained.

What you absolutely must do:

  • Clean your space: wipe away dust, take out the trash (both from your home and your mind), wash away the excess with water or salt. Think of it as a mini-detox before a powerful energetic wave.
  • Dress beautifully: pull out your favorite dress or another outfit. The "wear your best today" rule applies more than ever.
  • Put yourself at the center: this is the day of the Sun's power, and therefore, the day of personal power. Express yourself and shine.
  • Nourish your body symbolically: the season of vegetables, berries, herbs, and water is at its peak. Prepare something simple and delicious to help your body recognize that summer has truly arrived.

What not to do during solstice

Avoid sadness, negative talk, arguments, or tears. Everything said and done on this day is amplified, so why attract negativity?

The astrologer also advises against staying indoors. Even a short walk can provide a new burst of energy. Don't ignore your body's signals either. If you feel like sleeping, rest; if you feel like moving, dance. Your body is especially responsive today.

Rituals for the solstice

  • A letter to yourself: Write what you want to see in your life by the autumn equinox. Seal it in an envelope and open it on September 21 — you'll be surprised what came true.
  • Intention candle: Light a yellow or orange candle. Think about what you want to achieve by the end of summer. Let that energy work with the Sun.
  • Celebration of the body: Indulge in physical pleasures — a massage, something sweet, pleasant touches, movement.
