Solar eclipse 2024: When and where to watch
On April 8, 2024, people will bear witness to a total solar eclipse. Those unable to witness it firsthand will have the opportunity to follow the event online.
Below are all the details on where the eclipse will be visible and how long it will last, citing NASA, NASA Science, and Great American Eclipse.
Where to witness the solar eclipse
A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, briefly obscuring the entire solar disk. At this moment, the Sun's thin, nearly white outer atmosphere, known as the corona, becomes visible.
The full phase of the solar eclipse on April 8 will be observable in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. It will last for 4 minutes and 27 seconds.
Partial phases of the eclipse may be visible in other parts of North America, Central America, and even Western Europe.
Experts say that a clear view of the total solar eclipse will be available in approximately 40 towns.

During the eclipse, a prominent "solar corona" will be visible in the sky.
Additionally, the remarkable Pons-Brooks comet (12P/Pons-Brooks), commonly known as the "Devil's Comet," is expected to be visible in the sky during the eclipse.
Currently, it is moving through the inner part of our solar system towards the Sun at a speed of approximately 64,500 km/h, but it will later turn and head towards Earth.
Where and when to watch the solar eclipse online
Those unable to witness the eclipse in person can observe this natural phenomenon online.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has created a special live video broadcast on YouTube for this purpose.
The total solar eclipse will not be visible live in Ukraine unfortunately.
To watch it in video format live with the rest of the world, one must remember the time difference.
NASA's video broadcast will begin at 20:00, with the eclipse's peak for Ukrainians occurring at 20:18 Kyiv time.
