Slovakia will do everything necessary to participate in the drone wall project. This initiative is intended to protect countries from drone attacks, said Slovak President Peter Pellegrini, according to Dennik N.

Pellegrini emphasized that Slovakia is a full member of NATO and actively participates in all consultations under Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty.

"At the moment, this is still only an initial statement by the European Commission on the need to create such a mechanism (drone wall – ed.), so I do not want to make premature conclusions," he added.

The president noted that the airspace of NATO countries must be fully protected, regardless of which countries are concerned.

Pellegrini is confident that the Minister of Defense, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, as well as representatives of the Slovak armed forces, will do everything possible to ensure the country's participation in such a project.

Drone wall

Earlier, it became known that seven EU countries, Ukraine, and the European Commission will hold negotiations on the creation of a drone wall to protect against Russian drones.

European Commission representative Thomas Regnier emphasized that such an initiative is proposed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, since in recent weeks Russian drones have intruded into the airspace of Romania and Poland.
