Slovakia to close its only consulate in Russia
The Consulate General of Slovakia in St. Petersburg, which is Slovakia's only consulate in Russia, will cease operations on December 31, 2024, according to the Consulate's press service.
The consulate informed that due to the Slovak government's decision of August 28, "its activities are being terminated as of 31.12.2024".
"As for citizens of the Russian Federation, the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in Saint Petersburg no longer provides them with its services," the Consulate added.
Russian nationals will still be able to apply for visas, residence permits, signature verification, translations, and document certifications at the Slovak Embassy in Moscow.
Previously, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that Poland might close all Russian consulates in the country. This would be in response to the closure of Poland's consulate in St. Petersburg.
