Slovak President's first meeting with Zelenskyy: What was discussed
Slovak President Peter Pellegrini met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the first time on Thursday, June 27, according to the X of Pellegrini.
According to Pellegrini, he "had a productive good-neighbourly debate" with the Ukrainian President.
"We reflected on the recent joint meeting of our countries’ governments and discussed my plans for a full-fledged visit to Ukraine. I assured my Ukrainian counterpart that Slovakia wishes for a soon and just peace for Ukraine," stated Peter Pellegrini.
Slovakia's assistance to Ukraine
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, Slovakia has provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine worth millions of euros, including food, water, medicine, and medical equipment. However, the country's authorities refuse to provide military assistance.
In particular, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico refused to allow Bratislava to participate in the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine. At the same time, Slovak citizens independently created a fund to raise money for ammunition. They managed to raise several million euros.
Fico sharply criticized the initiative of Slovak citizens.
