Situation in Maryinka: North-located Ukrainian military report artillery shelling
Russian forces continue to shell Maryinka using artillery, despite their claims of taking complete control over the city. This information was stated by the spokesperson of the Joint Press Center of the Defense Forces of the Tavria Direction, Colonel Oleksandr Shtupun, during a television marathon.
"The enemy continues to shell Maryinka with artillery. Our troops, as the Commander-in-Chief noted (Valerii Zaluzhnyi - ed.), remain to the north of the city," he said.
According to Shtupun, no active combat has been recorded near the city so far, but "artillery preparation is ongoing."
The spokesperson clarified that besides Maryinka, the neighboring village of Hеorhiivka is also under artillery shelling.
Russian fake claims
Recall that on December 25, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to Vladimir Putin that the Russian forces had allegedly fully occupied Maryinka.
Shtupun, commenting on this information, emphasized that it is inappropriate to speak of the complete capture of the city, as Ukrainian defenders are still within its administrative borders.
Today, December 26, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi mentioned that Ukrainian defenders are located to the north of Maryinka. However, some military units have already withdrawn to the outskirts and even further.
