'There's no Maryinka anymore': Zaluzhnyi announces withdrawal of Ukrainian military
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, announced that Ukrainian military forces have withdrawn to the outskirts of Maryinka. The city is completely destroyed due to enemy attacks, according to TSN.
The Ukrainian general was asked to comment on the statements by the Russians that they had allegedly completely occupied Maryinka.
He reminded that Maryinka "held out for almost two years." According to him, the defenders are still in the northern part of the city and have prepared a defensive line beyond this settlement.
"This is war. And the fact that we have now withdrawn to the outskirts of Maryinka, and in some places a little further, I think nothing could cause public resonance," Zaluzhnyi replied.
He also talked about the condition of the city after active combat.
"There's no Maryinka anymore," emphasized the general.
Statements by the Russians
Recall that yesterday, on December 25, the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to dictator Vladimir Putin that Russian soldiers allegedly "completely took Maryinka under their control."
After this, the spokesperson for the joint press center of the Defense Forces of the Tavria direction, Colonel Oleksandr Shtupun, refuted such a fake. He noted that the defenders are still within the administrative boundaries of Maryinka.
At the same time, he added that it is incorrect to talk about the complete capture of the settlement.
