A shooting occurred in central Munich on Thursday, September 5. The Israeli Consulate is located near the scene of the incident, citing Süddeutsche Zeitung.

German media reported gunshots near the Documentation Center for the History of National Socialism in Munich, where the Israeli Consulate General is also located.

A large-scale police operation is underway at the scene, involving a helicopter. According to media reports, at least one person was injured.

Police reported that law enforcement officers opened fire on a suspicious individual, who was wounded. No further information about the suspect, attacker, or their intended target is available at this time.

German journalists have posted videos online where gunshots can be heard.

Importantly, today, September 5, marks the anniversary of the 1972 Munich massacre, during which Palestinian militants shot and killed 11 Israeli athletes during the Olympics.
