Face masks are super-effective, easy to use, and have many options for every skin type and problem. It is worth knowing what is the difference between sheet and rinse-off masks, states Real simple.
What are sheet masks
Sheet masks are made of thin fabrics that are soaked with active ingredients and placed in separate packages. They should be worn for about 20 minutes.
They are especially popular on airplanes to help people fight dry skin during the flight.
Dermatologist Kavita Marivalla said that fabric masks are suitable for anyone who wants to moisturize their skin. If you have dry or combination skin, a sheet mask can help provide moisture without adding a greasy feeling.
These masks can soothe the skin and also temporarily brighten the skin by adding ingredients such as vitamin C.
Why are rinse-off masks useful
Rinse-off face masks are concentrated skincare products made from cream or clay that you apply with your fingertips or a brush, leave on for 20 minutes or so, and then rinse off with lukewarm water. Depending on the active ingredients used, the benefits range from moisturizing, exfoliating, unclogging pores, brightening, and soothing.
Clay masks should be preferred by people prone to acne and rosacea. These patients have oily areas on their faces.
"I prefer sheet masks to washable ones because they are pre-filled products that make it easier to use sheet masks. Also, since they are disposable, they are more hygienic," says dermatologist Mona Gohara.
If you want to moisturize and brighten dry, dull skin, then cloth masks are probably the best option for you. On the other hand, if you want to unclog pores and reduce breakouts, you should go for washable masks. If left on for too long, they can dry out and pull moisture from the skin.
