In Kyiv, following a drone attack on the morning of May 16, debris from Russian UAVs was reported falling. A fire broke out in a non-residential area of one of the city’s districts, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.

The administration released an update on the situation as of 06:55 AM Kyiv time amid the Russian air attack on Kyiv.

They reported no confirmed casualties yet, with information still being verified.

"A fire was recorded in a non-residential area of the Sviatoshynskyi district. Firefighters are currently working at the scene," the Kyiv City Military Administration said.

Additionally, there were reports of debris falling onto a road.

"Emergency services are on their way," the KCMA added.

Drone attack and explosions in Kyiv

Earlier, Russian forces launched Shahed drones toward Ukraine from two directions overnight. Air raids were declared in many regions due to the drone threat.

Later in the night, air defenses in the Kyiv region engaged Russian drones. The strike UAVs' movement toward Kyiv was confirmed.

Around 06:30 AM Kyiv time, the Air Forces warned of hostile UAVs approaching Kyiv. Explosions were then heard in the capital, and local officials confirmed air defense operations were underway.
