Shahed attack: Debris falls reported in Kyiv, consequences revealed
In Kyiv, remnants of enemy targets have been reported falling in the city following a nighttime airstrike involving combat drones. The incidents were concentrated in the Desnianskyi district of the capital, states Serhii Popko, head of Kyiv's City Military Administration.
"As a result of a Russian drone attack on Kyiv, fragments have been reported falling in the Desnianskyi district of the capital," the official said.
According to preliminary reports, this caused minor damage to the facade of a warehouse building.
"There has been no information about a fire or casualties," the administration said.
The Kyiv City Military Administration also added that operational updates on the consequences of the enemy's drone attack on Kyiv are being updated and clarified.
Shahed attack on Kyiv
It was reported that since the evening of December 19, the Ukrainian Air Force detected launches of kamikaze drones by Russian forces towards Ukraine. After midnight on December 20, the Air Force informed about new groups of strike drones launched by the enemy from the north and south.
Later, an air alert was declared in Kyiv, twice during the night. Both times, the alert lasted for a short period.
It was also reported that during the drone attack on Kyiv the previous night, air alerts were declared three times. Additionally, air defense operations were conducted on the outskirts of the capital and within the city.
In the morning, military officials stated that, in total, during the night of December 19, the Russian army launched 85 drones, two ballistic Iskander-M missiles, and one guided Kh-59/69 air-to-surface missile towards Ukraine. Air defense systems destroyed 45 Russian strike drones, and 40 more enemy drones were lost in specific locations.
