The Memorial – International Volunteers in Ukraine project has reported the deaths of two Italian citizens who were serving as volunteers defending Ukraine during Russia's full-scale invasion, Torino Cronaca reports.
Antonio Omar Dridi
The 35-year-old volunteer, originally from Palermo, was declared dead after being listed as missing since March.
He had lived in Germany and Austria before joining the International Legion of the Ukrainian forces. The exact circumstances of his death are currently unknown
Manuel Mameli
The 25-year-old fighter from Selargius was declared dead by his fellow servicemen. His body has not yet been found.
Mameli was also a member of the International Legion and, according to Torino Cronaca, died due to the Russian drone strike in the Pokrovsk area.
The media outlet adds that since the beginning of the full-scale war, seven Italian citizens have been killed in Ukraine.
RBC-Ukraine previously reported that in January 2025, 19-year-old volunteer Filip Antosiak from Poland was killed. He had left his studies in the UK to join a Ukrainian drone strike unit.
That same month, reports also indicated that a 30-year-old volunteer from Austria had died fighting in Ukraine.
