Several explosions were heard in Cherkasy due to the Russian air attack. On the night of May 4, the city came under attack from kamikaze drones, according to Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration.

"A series of explosions in the regional center. We’re clarifying the consequences," the official said on his channel.

He also reported that air defense forces and equipment were actively engaged during the drone attack.

The official urged residents to remain in shelters until the air raid alert is lifted and reminded them of the importance of maintaining information silence.

"There are still Russian UAVs in the region. Stay alert. Air defense is at work. Reminder: no photos or videos," the regional governor’s statement read.

At 11:55 PM Kyiv time, Ukraine’s Air Force warned residents of Cherkasy about the Russian drone activity approaching the city from the south.

Local public pages and media in Cherkasy reported that explosions were heard in the city from around 11:30 PM Kyiv time until midnight. According to these reports, at least six blasts were heard near the city during that time.

Another Shahed drone attack

On the evening of Saturday, May 3, Russian forces launched several groups of kamikaze drones in a new wave of air attacks. Air raid alerts were declared in multiple regions of Ukraine due to the threat of Shahed strikes.

The previous night, Russian forces launched 183 UAVs across Ukraine. According to the Air Force, 77 drones were shot down by air defenses, while 73 Russian decoy drones were lost from radar tracking without causing damage. Air defense systems were active across the east, north, south, and central parts of the country.
