How does a snow bath affect our body

The use of cryotherapy, that is, cold treatment, has proven effects, among other things: in the treatment of inflammatory processes in the body and in improving blood flow, which has a positive effect on the functioning of all organs, especially the heart.

There is limited research on the effects of snow baths themselves, but they should have the same effect on our bodies as any form of cold therapy. An additional advantage of "dry winter bathing" is contact with nature, which has a beneficial effect, first of all, on our psyche.

Being out in the cold, we can count on an increase in white blood cell count and a faster metabolism. When trying to keep warm when exposed to cold, the body will begin to release white blood cells and stimulate the immune system.

Bathing in the snow will also benefit our skin, which should become more elastic and smooth. In addition, playing in the snow has a positive effect on our mood by increasing the level of the so-called happy hormones, i.e. serotonin and dopamine.

The mere contact with nature, for example, when swimming in the forest, has a proven effect on reducing psychological symptoms of stress, such as depression, despondency, or anxiety. You can expect these effects after a snow bath.

Snow bath - how to do it

When preparing for a "dry bath," you should choose a place away from the city center and prepare a place where warm drinks and clothes will be waiting for you. You should take a snow bath in swimsuits, warm socks, or boots, as well as gloves and hats to protect against additional heat loss.

After taking the bath, immediately wipe yourself dry, put on warm clothes, and drink a warm drink. The benefits can be felt after just one swim, but only regular exposure to the cold can bring greater benefits.
