Sandu's victory in presidential elections confirmed in Moldova
The Central Election Commission has summarized the results of the presidential election in Moldova. The candidate of the Action and Solidarity party, Maia Sandu, won the election.
According to the final results protocol of the November 3 presidential election, approved by the CEC, out of 1,680,569 valid votes
- 930,139 votes went to incumbent President Maia Sandu, who is supported by the Action and Solidarity Party,
- 750,430 votes went to former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo of the Socialists from the Republic of Moldova (PSRM).
According to the CEC, 1,699,945 voters came to the polls, or 54.31% of the total number of eligible citizens registered in the voter lists.
More than 328,855 voters cast their ballots at 231 polling stations set up in the diaspora, which is the largest number of voters since the organization of elections abroad.
It was the diaspora's votes that ensured Sandu's victory, while Alexandr Stoianoglo won the majority of votes in the Republic of Moldova.
At a meeting on November 9, CEC members also approved a report on the results of the organization and conduct of the presidential elections on October 20 and November 3 and intend to submit it to the Constitutional Court, which has 10 days to consider it and decide on the confirmation of the election results and the recognition of the validity of the presidential mandate.
Presidential elections in Moldova
In the presidential elections in Moldova, which took place on November 3, the main opponents were the current President of the country, Maia Sandu, and the former Prosecutor of Moldova, Alexandr Stoianoglo.
In the second round, Sandu won 55.35% of the vote and defeated her pro-Russian rival.
However, Russia played a role in the election. In particular, it is known that Russia and its agents tried to influence the election results.
