The Ryazan oil refinery halted operations after a Ukrainian drone attack on the night of February 24. Partial restoration of operations may be possible within a few days, Reuters reports.

According to reports, the attack caused a fire at the refinery’s main crude distillation unit, CDU-6. The plant completely stopped oil processing but may partially resume operations within a few days.

Reuters states that the unit has a capacity of approximately 170,000 barrels of oil per day, or about 48% of the refinery's total capacity. To continue production, the plant may activate two other units with a combined capacity of 145,000 barrels per day.

The outlet also notes that the Ryazan refinery had partially resumed oil processing and fuel loading into rail tankers on February 11 after an 18-day shutdown.

The strike on the Ryazan refinery was carried out by the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in coordination with other Defense Forces components. At least five explosions were reported.

This was the third attack on the refinery since the start of 2025.

The refinery has an annual processing capacity of 17.1 million tons of oil, making it one of the five largest refineries in Russia. It produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil, and petrochemicals.
