Rutte and Scholz confirm participation in Peace Summit - Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held telephone conversations with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, according to the President's X account.
Germany
During the talks, Zelenskyy welcomed Scholz's decision to participate in the Peace Summit. In particular, the parties instructed the teams to work on engaging as many countries as possible in the upcoming meeting.
The President informed the Chancellor on the current situation on the battlefield and key areas. They also discussed the continuation of defense cooperation.
"I am grateful to Germany for its significant contribution to Ukraine's defense capabilities, particularly in strengthening our air defense. German assistance saves human lives every time Russia launches a terror attack," said Zelenskyy.
The President added that among the discussed issues were the preparation for the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024) and specific agreements.
The Netherlands
During the talks, the President told Rutte about another Russian terrorist attack on Ukrainian cities, communities, and energy facilities.
The President also welcomed the active work of the Netherlands in the search for air defense systems for Ukraine, in particular for Kharkiv.
"We also talked about further defense cooperation and the upcoming Peace Summit in Switzerland. Prime Minister Rutte confirmed his participation," the President added.
Global Peace Summit
This June, Switzerland will host the Global Peace Summit. The representatives of more than a hundred countries have been invited. During the meeting, the Ukrainian peace formula announced by Zelenskyy in 2022 will be discussed.
The Russian Federation was not invited to the summit. However, it will be able to participate in subsequent meetings.
