Russians shell power plant in Ukraine, plunging entire city into darkness
Russian troops shelled a thermal power plant in eastern Ukraine. The entire city was left without electricity, reports Ukrenergo.
"At night, enemy shelling caused damage to the equipment of the thermal power plant in the eastern region. The object did not stop its work," the message says.
At the same time, according to Ukrenergo, a nearby town was cut off.
"The power plant is working, but the nearby city has been cut off. Currently, the heat supply of the satellite city has been restored, and work to restore the power supply is ongoing," the company adds.
Blackout due to shelling
Energy experts noted that due to hostilities and other reasons, 530 settlements remain without electricity.
"Due to the shelling, there is new damage to the networks of Oblenergo in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions. Emergency and recovery works are carried out depending on the security situation and with the permission of the military," the summary adds.
Shelling of TPP in Ukraine
In Russia, it has become common practice to fire at energy facilities in Ukraine, including thermal power plants. For example, on November 12, it was reported that over the past three weeks, the Russian Federation had already shelled one of the TPPs of DTEK Energo three times. The occupiers also attacked the TPP in the evening of November 7. A thermal power station in the front-line region came under fire.
