Russians raise railway transport fares for people in occupied territories - NRC
The Russian authorities continue to exert pressure on residents of temporarily occupied Donetsk. Specifically, the enemy has introduced new tariffs for railway transportation, reports the National Resistance Center (NRC).
According to the information source, transportation tariffs have sharply increased since January 1, 2025. For instance, the fare to Luhansk now costs 955 rubles, while last year it was 585 rubles.
"Despite these hikes, the state of the railroad in Donetsk remains dire: services are frequently canceled, and stations are neglected and abandoned," the report states.
A similar situation is observed in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region, where public transportation prices have been raised to 40 rubles. There have been no so-called improvements for the local population.
"This clearly shows that the occupiers have no intention of improving living conditions for local residents. Instead, they continue to escalate financial burdens, demonstrating complete disregard for basic human needs in the TOT," the resource added.
At the end of December, it became known that employees of the Berdyansk port had not received their salaries. The reason for this is that Russian forces have not been paying wages for several months.
