Shelling of Kherson
Kherson was the only regional capital captured by Russian forces at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Ukrainian forces liberated the city and the western part of the region in the fall of 2022 during a counteroffensive.
However, the eastern (left-bank) part of Kherson region remains under Russian occupation. The Russian army continues to shell Kherson and other settlements on the western bank of the Dnipro River daily.
On April 13, Russian forces shelled central Kherson, killing one person and injuring another. A children’s medical facility in the city was also damaged.
