Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with 90 drones on the night of March 16. Despite coming from various directions, air defense shot down more than half, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

"On the night of March 16, the enemy launched 90 Shahed-type strike drones and imitation drones," the report says.

The occupiers launched drones of various types from the directions of Millerovo, Bryansk, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and Chauda (Crimea).

How many drones were downed by air defense

The airstrike was repelled by anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine.

"As of 9:00 AM, 47 Shahed-type strike drones and other types of UAVs have been confirmed as downed," the military reported.

Air defense operations took place in the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Odesa regions.

Additionally, 33 enemy imitation drones were lost in specific locations (with no negative consequences).

Consequences of the Russian attack on Ukraine

As a result of the Russian attack, the Chernihiv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa regions were affected.

In particular, a Russian drone attacked a multi-story building in Chernihiv on the evening of March 15, partially destroying two floors of the building.

Additionally, on the evening of March 15, the Russian army attacked the city of Izium in the Kharkiv region with drones. One person was killed, and there were injuries, including among teenagers.
