Russian militants attacked Kharkiv on Sunday, September 15. They struck a high-rise building, as reported by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Syniehubov.

What happened

The explosions in Kharkiv occurred after 15:00. Residents reported a series of explosions.

The Ukrainian Air Force warned of a missile threat and the launch of guided aerial bombs by Russian aircraft in the Kharkiv region. Later, local authorities confirmed the strike on Kharkiv.

The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Syniehubov, clarified that the strike was in the Nemyshlyanskyi district, and civilian infrastructure was damaged. According to Syniehubov, as of 15:35, there are three wounded.

Number of victims is growing

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration said that as of 15:50 the number of victims had increased to 25 people. Three of them are children.

According to the mayor of Kharkiv, the number of victims later increased to 28.

The rescue and search operation at the site of the impact continues. According to Syniehubov, the shelling destroyed one entrance of the building and started a fire on the 9th floor.
“Three people are in serious condition. 30 wounded in total. There may be people under the rubble. We are evacuating the residents,” he said.

Number of injured rises to 35

As the mayor of Kharkiv reported around 17:00, the number of people injured in the city has increased to 35. There are three children among the victims.
