Russians hit energy worker's vehicle with mortar in Sumy border region, injuries reported
Russian occupiers shelled the city of Seredyna-Buda in the Sumy region with mortars. As a result of the strikes, energy workers were injured, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General.
"According to the investigation, on September 2, 2023, at around 10:30 am, the occupiers from the territory of the Russian Federation carried out mortar shelling of the city of Seredyna-Buda in the Shostka district. The shells hit the service vehicle of the Shostka branch of Sumyoblenergo (regional electricity company)," the statement reads.
Two energy workers were injured, and a power transmission line, two facilities and local enterprise were damaged.
Situation in the Sumy region
After Ukrainian soldiers completely pushed Russian occupiers from the territory of the Sumy region last spring, the enemy shells the region from the territory of Russia almost every day. Border areas of the region are most often targeted.
On September 1, Russians carried out 22 shelling incidents in the border areas of the region. In particular, 147 explosions were recorded in the border territories and settlements of the Sumy region.
