Russians executed Ukrainian soldiers in Donetsk region: One of executioners already captured
A Ukrainian drone captured the moment of the brutal crime. Russians shot three unarmed Ukrainian soldiers at close range, according to the statements by the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine and Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.
Soldiers of the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade, together with the 49th Separate Assault Battalion, captured a Russian who was among the group that executed Ukrainian soldiers.
During interrogation, the captured Russian said that he and other militants committed the atrocity under orders.
“There is no time to mess with prisoners. No taking prisoners. We were ordered to shoot them,” he said.
Ombudsman's reaction
“Executions of Ukrainian prisoners by Russians are war crimes!” emphasized Lubinets.
He noted that videos of alleged executions and killings of Ukrainian soldiers who surrendered to the Russian army have recently been posted on social media.
“Today, another video appeared on the Internet, where the occupiers are probably shooting unarmed Ukrainian soldiers in the Donetsk region. For my part, as the Ombudsman of Ukraine, I demand that the international community record these violations of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War and international humanitarian law,” the Ombudsman emphasized.
He also noted that he sent letters to the UN and the ICRC in all possible cases.
“I am currently urgently sending the next letter to them regarding the case in Niu York... Such things are unacceptable and a violation of human rights! At the same time, the behavior of the Russian military is tolerated by their top leadership. That is why it is necessary to record and verify every crime and punish them appropriately!” he summarized.
Russians kill prisoners
Yesterday it became known about an incident that occurred in the summer. The Russian military, on the orders of their command, executed four Ukrainian soldiers on the territory of an industrial plant in Vovchansk.
Shortly before that, we reported that a video was posted online showing the Russian militants executing 16 Ukrainian prisoners of war at once. More details about this crime can be found in the RBC-Ukraine article.
