Russians target sports complex in Kyiv: Consequences revealed
In the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv, the Lokomotyv sports complex was damaged in today's Russian massive rocket attack. There is significant destruction and a person was wounded.
Lokomotyv belongs to Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian railways - ed.), which has already informed about the consequences of the Russian attack on the sports complex.
"The shelling damaged the Ukrzaliznytsia sports complex in Kyiv. One person was wounded. Explosives experts and the State Emergency Service are currently working at the scene," Ukrzaliznytsia press service writes.
Every day, more than five hundred children of railroad workers and temporarily displaced families, including those from Mariupol, Melitopol, and Kherson, train at Lokomotyv.
"Fortunately, there were no children on the territory of the complex at the time of the accident," Ukrzaliznytsia emphasizes.
The extent of the damage will be assessed after the rescue operations are completed. Trainings have been canceled for today.
An RBC-Ukraine correspondent visited the scene. The scale of the damage is significant.
Massive Russian attack on Ukraine
Today, January 23, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine with missiles from its strategic aviation. Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Pavlohrad were hit, and there are reports of injuries and deaths, as well as fires and destruction in the cities.
In the capital, at least 20 people have been reported injured, and according to the Kyiv City State Administration, two dozen missiles were fired at the capital. The attack on Kyiv was a combined one, using cruise and ballistic missiles.
In total, Russia fired 41 missiles at Ukraine, most of which were ballistic missiles. Our air defenders managed to shoot down 21 enemy targets.
