Russian troops attacked Ukraine with Shaheds at night. Air defense forces destroyed several dozen enemy kamikaze drones, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Over the past day, Russian occupants once again attacked Ukraine, using 96 Shahed-136/131 UAVs. The air defense forces and means destroyed 66 attack UAVs," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

It is also noted that on the current day, the invaders again launched an air strike, using 26 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. Air defense forces shot down 21 enemy drones.

"Shaheds were flying between high-rise buildings and were targeting different areas of attack. The port infrastructure was again under threat. One of these facilities was hit and a fire broke out, but it was quickly extinguished," said Natalia Humeniuk, head of the press center of the Southern Defense Forces.

According to her, about 60 Shaheds flew through the area of responsibility of the Southern Defense Forces overnight, and more than 50 of them were destroyed.

"Air defense systems were operating in all regions in our area of responsibility. Most of all in the Odesa region, more than 30 drones were shot down," added the head of the press center.

Late in the evening of December 31, Russian troops launched several groups of Shahed-type kamikaze drones across Ukraine from the south. The explosions were heard in Mykolaiv, as well as in the Kherson region and the Dnipro region.

Russian troops also attacked Odesa and the region with kamikaze drones. The attack resulted in a death and injuries. Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said that as a result of the Russian drone attack, direct and fragmentary hits were recorded in residential buildings in Odesa. There were also reports of 8 wounded and one dead.

In addition, explosions were reported by the Lviv Military Administration. It is known that drone debris caused fires in the Shukhevych Museum and one of the dormitories.
