Russian forces shelled the center of Kupiansk with guided aerial bombs on February 28. Two people were killed, and another woman was wounded, with the possibility of more casualties under the rubble, according to Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, and the police of the Kharkiv region.

Liberation of Kupiansk and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi in the Kharkiv region

The cities of Kupiansk and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi were occupied during Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine. There were serious battles fought for Kupiansk, after which, in early September 2022, the Ukrainian Armed Forces expelled the enemy from the left-bank part of Kupiansk.

Following that, at the end of the month, Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi also came under the control of Ukrainian forces. Russian forces have continued to shell these cities since then.
