Russians are 6 kilometers from Myrnohrad. 20,000 people remain in town
About 20 thousand people remain in Myrnohrad, Donetsk region. Russian troops are six kilometers from the town, according to the acting head of the Myrnohrad City Military Administration, Yurii Tretiak.
According to him, the situation in the town is tense but stable, although the Russian forces are slowly advancing.
"Right now, the line of battle engagement is approximately six kilometers from Myrnohrad. People are leaving, but not as quickly or actively as we would like, as the situation requires. Our priority is organizing the evacuation of children and elderly people who struggle to care for themselves and have mobility problems. Many people are leaving on their own because there are constant explosions and artillery shelling, which can be heard even on the outskirts of the community," Tretiak explained.
He mentioned that they plan to evacuate all the people from Myrnohrad by the end of August.
The head of the City Military Administration also mentioned that in Pokrovsk, they are urging people to evacuate. Employees of the City Military Administration are calling residents to encourage them to evacuate, and together with the police and emergency services, they are going door-to-door.
"There are some people who refuse to leave for any reason. They are few, but there are cases where parents claim over the phone that their children have already left, while we find out that they are still in the community," Tretiak added.
