Russian troops storm Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region with tanks and IFVs for second day
Russian forces have been storming Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region for the second consecutive day using military equipment. Ukrainian Armed Forces manage to destroy enemy vehicles during the fighting, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces note that for the second consecutive day, the enemy has been extensively employing armored vehicles towards the direction of the town of Novyi.
"Indeed, yesterday Russian units attempted to penetrate our defensive line with two tanks and 21 infantry fighting vehicles, but they suffered losses and retreated," according to the General Staff's report.
Today, Russian forces engaged a tank, two BMPs, and two Tiger armored vehicles. During the battle, Ukrainian defenders destroyed one tank and two BMPs, prompting the enemy to retreat once again.
Over the past day, there were 116 combat engagements along the entire front line. Since the beginning of this day, there have been 22 combat engagements, with some ongoing as of 13:00.
Frontline situation
A week ago, occupiers launched an offensive in the northern part of the Kharkiv region, drawing particular attention due to its proximity to Kharkiv. This area was previously liberated by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in autumn 2022.
However, Russians are also attempting to break through Ukrainian defenses near Avdiivka and on the Bakhmut direction. Specifically, the Russian army aims to capture the town of Chasiv Yar, which would pave the way towards the Kramatorsk agglomeration.
