Russian troops step up attempts to infiltrate Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia region – Ukraine's Forces

Russian forces have significantly stepped up attempts to infiltrate Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region. They are trying to enter the eastern parts of the city in small groups and gather in residential buildings, states Vladyslav Voloshyn, Southern Defense Forces spokesperson, during a national telethon live broadcast.
According to Voloshyn, over the past day, there have been around 10 combat clashes in Huliaipole itself. The Russian troops are attempting to infiltrate the eastern and northeastern parts of the city. In some cases, they even manage to enter certain buildings due to poor visibility caused by bad weather conditions.
"Their assault groups don’t stay long there, although there are occasional footholds because of the limited visibility and weather. The enemy continues all their attempts to enter this settlement, so fierce fighting is ongoing," Voloshyn explained.
In addition, enemy aviation is actively operating in the area. The Russian forces are relentlessly attacking populated areas on the Huliaipole and Orikhiv directions with KABs (guided aerial bombs), with Huliaipole and Zaliznychne bearing the brunt of the attacks.
"According to our intelligence, these fire, bombing, and airstrikes are aimed at preparing new assault operations in this direction, destroying our fortifications and shelters, and continuing to attack our positions," Voloshyn summarized.
In recent days, the situation near Huliaipole has become tense again, with a significant escalation in fighting. The Russian troops are attempting to cut off Ukrainian logistics and encircle the city.
At the same time, following the events at the end of November, the situation in the area remains under control. As reported by the Center for Strategic Communications at the National Security and Defense Council, the information spread by Russia about infiltrating the city itself is false. All enemy attempts to enter Huliaipole have been repelled, and Russian assault units have been eliminated.
