Novorossiysk in Russia's Krasnodar Krai woke up to explosions on the morning of July 6. Fleet ships were attacked by drones from both sea and air. The city has become the main base for the remnants of Russia's Black Sea Fleet after numerous Ukrainian strikes on the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol in Crimea, reports Russian media.

A massive drone strike on Novorossiysk began early on July 6. According to Russian reports, the attack came simultaneously from the air, where strike drones were deployed, and from the water, where Ukrainian naval drones targeted the ships.

For several hours, air raid sirens sounded in the city. Gunfire and explosions were heard. Air defense systems were active. No information about the damage or casualties has been released so far.

Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko wrote that movement has been restricted, and walking along the city’s waterfront, which overlooks the harbor and Black Sea Fleet warships, has been banned. The Russians also released a video allegedly showing a burning, damaged naval drone. The footage could not be independently verified.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the morning of July 6 that its air defense forces allegedly shot down 120 Ukrainian strike drones. However, Krasnodar Krai was not listed among the regions where drones were intercepted.

Russian forces continue attacking Ukraine

Russia launches drone strikes every night. On the night of July 5-6, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia were targeted in attacks. There were injuries, destruction, and fires caused by the strikes. In Kharkiv and Kherson, the enemy targeted rescuers responding to previous attacks. On the morning of July 6, the Russian army also attacked Mykolaiv with drones.

Another drone strike hit Kremenchuk in the Poltava region. The target was a building of the local Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. This was the third strike on a recruitment center in recent days. The Armed Forces of Ukraine believe the enemy is trying to disrupt mobilization efforts.
