Russian strike hits National Academy of Sciences building in central Kyiv, fire breaks out

Russian forces struck the National Academy of Sciences building in Kyiv on the morning of September 28. A fire broke out at the site following the attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reports.
According to the president, a rescue operation is underway following the Russian strike on the building. Emergency crews are putting out the fire and inspecting the building because people may still be inside.
All necessary emergency services have been deployed to the scene.

"Russia will definitely face a response to this. And every one of Ukraine’s partners must see from this terror, from these strikes, that supporting Ukraine means truly supporting people’s lives – supporting the principle that terror must never be normalized, anywhere," Zelenskyy said.

Kyiv attack on September 28
As reported earlier, Russian drones attacked Kyiv on the morning of September 28.
The first strikes were recorded at around 6:30 a.m. In Kyiv's Obolonskyi district, a drone hit gas pumps at a gas station, sparking a fire. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a drone struck an office building.
Later, a drone hit a cafe near a gas station in the Holosiivskyi district, while debris from a UAV caused a fire in an open area in the Darnytskyi district.
The attacks continued during the day. One of the drones struck the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in central Kyiv.
