Russian soldier shoots civilian in Donetsk region - Third such case this year

A Russian soldier shot and killed a civilian during an attempted evacuation from the village of Udachne in the Donetsk region. This marks the third recorded case of Russians killing local civilians in the area this year, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine reports.
"A video posted in one of the Telegram channels shows a civilian trying to evacuate from the village of Udachne. The man was walking along the roadside, holding a suitcase with what remained of his personal belongings," the Prosecutor General's Office noted.
According to the statement, a Russian soldier, positioned in an ambush set up inside a ruined building, cynically opened targeted fire and killed the passerby with automatic weapons. This is the third confirmed case of civilians being shot by enemy forces in the region this year.
"Information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations regarding a war crime that resulted in the death of a person. Urgent investigative actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the incident and identify the Russian soldier involved in the crime," the statement says.
War crimes committed by Russian troops against Ukrainians
Recently, two officers of Russia's Black Sea Fleet were formally charged with the cruel treatment of the crew of the Ukrainian vessel Sapphire near Snake Island.
Prosecutors have also charged Russian soldier Sergey Tuzhilov, who faces a life sentence for allegedly executing a Ukrainian prisoner of war.
Earlier, Ukrainian special services were able to identify Russian troops who tortured civilians during the occupation of parts of the Kyiv region.
In addition, prosecutors recently charged a Russian commander involved in the mass executions of civilians and POWs during the 2022 occupation of the Kyiv region.
