Russian propaganda exploits global media for Kremlin

In the information space, manipulations are spreading, citing Reuters, about a supposedly possible end to the war in Ukraine in August. The terms of peace are described as handing over part of the Donbas to Russia and freezing the front line, according to the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) under the NSDC.
These claims are not true, the CCD emphasizes. Reuters publications contain no statements about a possible end to the war or about Ukraine allegedly agreeing to any peace scenario.
The agency only cites a Kremlin source presenting Russia’s view of the so-called Anchorage formula, which, according to this source, had previously been discussed by Putin and Trump.
“The manipulation lies in the deliberate distortion of content: from a description of Russian desires, the conclusion is drawn that peace was possible but was spoiled by Ukraine. Such a statement does not exist and never appeared in Reuters,” the Center emphasizes.
Analysts warn that spreading this narrative is dangerous because it creates the false impression that the war continues due to Ukraine’s position, rather than Russia’s aggressive and unacceptable demands.
“This aligns with Russian propaganda, which systematically tries to shift responsibility for the war from Russia onto Ukraine,” the CCD concludes.
Russian propaganda fakes
As RBC-Ukraine previously reported, Russian propaganda continues to spread AI-generated fakes. In these, characters posing as Ukrainian military personnel emotionally address viewers, claiming shortages of food and equipment.
Social media also spreads false information claiming that Ukraine allegedly shared distorted intelligence with the US. Ukrainian intelligence stated that this is a deliberate information attack by Russia.
Additionally, Russian propaganda continues to systematically discredit Ukraine and its military, including spreading fakes in which Ukrainian servicemen are baselessly linked to criminal incidents.
