Russian occupiers pressing, but Ukrainian military holding foothold in Kherson region
Ukrainian military continues to maintain a foothold on the left bank of the Kherson region. Russian occupiers press on, but face resistance, according to the Southern Defense Forces.
"In the operational zone of the Southern Defense Forces, counter-battery combat continues. The enemy remains intent on dislodging our units from their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro. They attempted 4 unsuccessful assaults. Suffering significant losses, they retreated to their original positions," the statement says.
According to the military, Russian occupiers persist in aerial reconnaissance, press with artillery shelling, employ a large number of attack drones, and conduct airstrikes.
Meanwhile, in the Black Sea, 5 enemy fleet ships are on combat duty, with one more vessel in the Sea of Azov. However, none of them are missile carriers, as they are stationed at their bases.
Ukrainian foothold in the Kherson region
In the fall of 2023, it became known that Ukrainian soldiers were consolidating on the left bank of the Kherson region, particularly at a foothold near the settlement of Krynky.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine aim to push back Russian occupiers from the right bank of the Dnipro, as it would reduce civilian shelling.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian forces have recently achieved some success in Krynky on the left bank of the Kherson region.
