Ukrainian troops have advanced to the west of Horlivka (southwest of Bakhmut). Russian troops recently advanced in northern Avdiivka and continued positional battles with Ukrainian forces in the area, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Operation #1 - Luhansk region
Positional battles continued along the Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line on February 9. A geolocated video published on February 9 shows that Russian forces have slightly advanced east of Bilohorivka (12 km south of Kreminna).
Both Ukrainian and Russian sources reported positional battles:
- northeast of Kupiansk in the Synkivka area;
- southeast of Kupiansk in the Ivanivka area;
- west of Kreminna in the Terniv, Yampolivka, and Dibrova areas;
- southwest of Kreminna in the Hryhorivka area;
- south of Kreminna in the Bilohorivka area.

Operation #2 - Donetsk region
Recently, Russian forces achieved minor successes west of Bakhmut, while Ukrainian forces recently advanced southwest of Bakhmut. Geolocated footage published on February 9 shows units of the Russian 98th Airborne Division, which recently deployed in fields west of Bakhmut.

Positional battles were ongoing:
- northwest of Bakhmut in the Bohdanivka area;
- west of Bakhmut in the Ivanivske area;
- southwest of Bakhmut in the Klishchiivka area.

Russian troops recently advanced in northern Avdiivka and continued positional battles with Ukrainian forces in this area. A geolocated video published on February 9 shows that Russian troops have advanced close to the railway bridge along Chystiakova Street in the north of Avdiivka.
Positional battles took place:
- northwest of Avdiivka in the Novobakhmutivka area;
- southeastern outskirts of Avdiivka;
- south of Avdiivka in the Opytne area;
- southwest of Avdiivka in the Nevelske and Pervomaiske areas.

Russian forces recently advanced further in Novomykhailivka amidst ongoing positional battles, to the west and southwest of Donetsk on February 9.
Positional battles took place:
- west of Donetsk in the Hеorhiivka and Krasnohorivka areas;
- southwest of Donetsk in the Pobeda and Novomykhailivka areas.

"Southern Axis"
Positional battles took place in the west of the Zaporizhzhia region on February 9, but there were no confirmed changes on the front line.
Both Ukrainian and Russian sources reported positional battles:
- near Robotyne;
- west of Verbovе (east of Robotyne);
- west of Novopokrovka (northeast of Robotyne);
- near Novoprokоpivka (south of Robotyne).

A geolocated video published on February 8 shows that Ukrainian forces recently achieved some successes in Krynky on the left bank of the Kherson region.
It is reported that positional battles continued on the eastern bank of the Kherson region on February 9.
