Russian troops have almost doubled the number of clashes in the Tavria direction. At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers continue to inflict significant losses on the enemy in manpower and equipment, according to the Joint Press Center of the Tavria Defense Forces and the commander of the Tavria Operational Strategic Group of troops, Oleksandr Tarnavskyi.

"The Russian occupiers have again increased the number of combat engagements almost twice. They continue to actively carry out air strikes and shell our positions from artillery," says Tarnavskyi.

In total, Russian troops conducted 25 air strikes, 1 missile attack, 47 combat engagements, and 875 artillery attacks in the Tavria direction.

The threat of the enemy using missile weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles against military and civilian infrastructure remains high.

In the area of responsibility of the Tavria Operational Strategic Group of troops in the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, who keeps trying to encircle Avdiivka. Our soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the invaders.

Thus, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 13 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, and Avdiivka and another 19 attacks in the areas of Severne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region over the past day.

In the Maryinka direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold back the enemy near Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where 14 attacks were repelled.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the occupiers did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled an enemy attack near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region.

Russian losses

The total losses of the Russian army amounted to 423 occupiers.

Ukrainian troops also destroyed 72 units of enemy military equipment, including:

  • 10 tanks;
  • 14 armored personnel carriers;
  • 10 artillery systems;
  • 1 MLRS;
  • 1 anti-tank grenade launcher;
  • 22 UAVS;
  • 10 vehicles;
  • 4 units of special equipment.

In addition, two ammunition depots and another important enemy facility were destroyed.

The situation at the frontline

Ukrainian troops repelled 14 enemy attacks in the Maryinka direction and are holding back the enemy in the Avdiivka direction. Aviation hit 12 areas of enemy concentration. In particular, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to expand their foothold in the Kherson region.

Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine as of Thursday morning, January 4, amounted to 780 occupiers, bringing the total number of Russian army losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion to 36,280. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 12 tanks, 28 artillery systems, and 32 vehicles.
