Russian Navy suffered defeat in the Black Sea - British Ministry of Defense
During a speech at the Warsaw Security Forum, James Heappey, the Junior Minister of Defence for the United Kingdom, stated that Ukrainian forces have effectively dealt a blow to the Russian fleet in the Black Sea, according to European Pravda.
James Heappey emphasized that although Ukraine's progress is slow, it cannot be deemed nonexistent. He pointed to the breakthrough in Kharkiv as a success story and highlighted Ukraine's accomplishments in the Black Sea, stating, "Ukraine has achieved the functional defeat of the Russian Black Sea fleet."
Commenting on Ukraine's counteroffensive on land, he also noted, "Every inch matters."
Strike on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet
A few weeks ago, Ukrainian forces attacked the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters in Sevastopol. A significant fire broke out as a result of the attack.
According to information from the Special Operations Forces, 34 officers were killed in the attack, including Vice Admiral Viktor Sokolov, the Russian Black Sea Fleet commander. Another 105 people were injured.
The details about the commander are still being clarified, as the Russians released a video showing his participation in a meeting of the Russian Ministry of Defense board.
