The Russian shelling of Kyiv on the morning of January 23 started fires in parked cars, houses, and apartments. A part of an unexploded rocket was found in one of them. At the moment, there are 4 wounded and a victim, according to the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko, and the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Sviatoshynskyi district

Part of missile found in apartment, people evacuated

According to Klitschko, an unexploded missile warhead was found in a residential building in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv.

"People are being evacuated from the building," Klitschko says.

As a result of the Russian missile strike, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration, a gas station caught fire in Svyatoshynskyi district:

  • parked cars caught fire;
  • preliminary damage to a kindergarten;
  • preliminary damage to one house.

"We already know about one wounded person. The information is being clarified. Emergency services are on the way. An air raid alert is in progress. Stay in shelters!" the administration adds.

Later, the KCMA noted that the information about the damage to the kindergarten in Sviatoshynskyi district was not confirmed, but that cars caught fire near the kindergarten.

Another victim

In addition, according to Klitschko, another apartment in the Sviatoshynskyi district is on fire.

"As a result of falling debris, the balconies from the 1st to the 5th floors were damaged. One victim was found in the apartment where the fire started," the mayor adds.

Solomianskyi district

According to Klitschko, a blast wave smashed windows in an apartment building in Solomianskyi district.

"At the moment, one victim has been hospitalized in the Solomianskyi district," he adds.

Klitschko also reports a fire in several apartments of a residential building in the same district.

In addition, a two-story non-residential building was destroyed in Solomianskyi district, without a fire.

Pecherskyi district

According to Klitschko, a non-residential building was hit in the Pecherskyi district.

"Emergency units are on their way to the scene," he adds.

Later, Klitschko said that one victim was found in the Pecherskyi district, where a non-residential building was hit. Emergency services continue to extinguish the fire.

Darnytskyi district

In the Darnytskyi district, debris fell on the roof of a multi-story residential building and the territory of a kindergarten.

"There was no information about the victims. The data is being clarified," states the KCMA.

Lokomotyv stadium in Kyiv damaged

Russian shelling damaged the Ukrzaliznytsia sports complex in Kyiv. One person was wounded. Explosives experts and the State Emergency Service are currently working at the scene.

"The extent of the damage will be assessed after the rescue operations are completed. Trainings have been canceled for today," Ukrzaliznytsia says in a statement.

Information about victims

According to Klitschko, there are currently 7 victims of the morning attack on the capital. Most of them are in the Solomiansky district.

"Six people were hospitalized, and one victim, a 13-year-old boy, was treated on the spot by medics," he says.

Four wounded and one killed

One woman has been killed and four wounded as a result of the rocket attack on Kyiv.

"Most of them have mine-blast injuries. The information is being clarified," the KCMA reports.

Explosions in Kyiv

At about 5:30 a.m. on January 23, an air raid alert began to spread across Ukraine. The Air Force reported that Russia had launched missiles from strategic aviation. Later, there was information about air defense operating in Kyiv.
