Russian Ministry of Defense reports repelling overnight drone attacks in two regions
Russia has announced that its air defense forces were activated due to drone attacks in two regions overnight. The regions in question are Kursk and Yaroslavl, according to the Telegram channel of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The defense ministry of the aggressor country has traditionally claimed to have repelled an attack, for which the Russian side blames Ukraine.
It is alleged that the drones were intended to "carry out a terrorist attack on targets within the territory of the Russian Federation."
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense forces reportedly neutralized 32 aircraft-type drones. Specifically:
- 26 drones were allegedly shot down in the Kursk region,
- and 6 more in the Yaroslavl region.
No information was provided regarding any ground consequences of the air defense operations or possible damage to facilities as a result of the drone attack.
Interestingly, the Lipetsk region, where local authorities had reported the operation of air defense systems due to drones, was not mentioned in the Russian Ministry of Defense’s report on the "repelled attack."
It is worth noting that yesterday evening, the authorities of the Kursk region reported a power outage in Kurchatov, where the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant is located, due to a drone attack.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that in recent days, against the backdrop of military activities in the Kursk region, the Russian side has been reporting a significant increase in air strikes in this region.
