At Sarajevo Airport, the capital of Bosnia, mercenary Dario Ristić, who fought against Ukraine as part of the Russian army, was detained, Radiosarajevo.ba reports.

According to reports, Ristić was detained last week. He arrived in Sarajevo on a flight from Istanbul.

On September 9, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved the prosecution’s request, and Ristić was placed in pre-trial detention for up to one month, until October 18, 2025, or until another court decision is made. He is currently held in the state prison in Vojkovići.

Ristić’s lawyer stated that his client decided to surrender to the judicial authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina after learning about the international arrest warrant issued by Interpol for his participation in foreign armed formations.

Ristić was wanted for war crimes committed on the battlefield in another country. He fought in Ukraine as part of the Perm Bears Russian unit, which also includes volunteers from Serbia.

During the fighting in Ukraine, Ristić suffered a serious injury, resulting in the amputation of his leg.

It is also known that mercenaries from at least 48 countries are participating on Russia’s side in the war against Ukraine.

Earlier, the media identified 51 military personnel from China who signed contracts with the Russian army. They specifically flew to Moscow for this purpose.
