Russian forces strike Sumy, hitting residential area
Russian forces launched a missile strike on the city of Sumy on the evening of Friday, October 11. A hit was recorded in a residential district, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
According to preliminary information, there were no casualties as a result of the enemy shelling.
"Sumy region. Late in the evening on October 11, the enemy launched a missile strike on a residential district in the regional center. One explosion was recorded," the regional administration said in a statement.
The administration also reported that all necessary services worked at the strike site.
"The consequences of the Russian attack are being clarified," the administration added.
Shelling of Sumy and the region
It should be noted that on Friday evening, multiple launches of guided bombs by Russian forces were recorded in the direction of the Sumy region.
For example, a couple of hours before midnight, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported seven guided bomb launches toward Sumy at 11:55 p.m., 11:15 p.m., 11:55 p.m., 11:38 p.m., 11:35 p.m., 11:11 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. (Kyiv time).
By midnight, the military reported the movement of enemy-guided bombs toward Bilopillia (Sumy district).
In addition, after midnight, local media in Sumy reported hearing explosions in the city.
It was also reported that on the evening of October 6, an explosion occurred in Sumy following a warning of a ballistic threat.
On September 28, Russian forces struck a medical facility in Sumy. When emergency services arrived at the scene, Russians launched a second attack.
