Russian forces, during a massive nighttime attack, deployed virtually their entire range of weapons: drones and missiles of various types, Yurii Ihnat, Air Force Command spokesperson, said on Ukrainian TV.

"A large number of missiles and strike drones were used. This time, the enemy deployed virtually the entire range of weapons – air-, sea-, and ground-launched missiles were used across different regions of our country," Ihnat said.

The main feature of the attack is the enemy’s use of almost its entire weapons inventory.

Unfortunately, ballistic missiles cannot be intercepted where there are no corresponding systems. Ballistic missiles are intercepted by the Patriot system.

"Today, the enemy used the Iskander-M, as well as the Kinzhal aeroballistic missile. It was a rather challenging task for air defense, placing a heavy burden both on personnel and the equipment our defenders are using," he added.

He also emphasized that the result of air defense today is a large number of destroyed and suppressed targets. Given the scale of the attack, this is an extremely serious outcome achieved by the air defense.

Air defense operations during the nighttime attack

Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that on the night of October 30, the enemy carried out a combined strike on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure using strike drones and missiles launched from air, ground, and sea platforms.

In total, the Air Force’s radar troops detected and tracked 705 aerial targets – 52 missiles and 653 drones of various types.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that many targets were shot down, but there were hits as the combined strike was quite complex.
