Previous Russian attacks in the Lviv region
Russian drones regularly reach Ukraine's western regions, including Lviv and settlements near the city.
On October 13, a Russian jet-powered drone attacked Lviv. Explosions were heard in the city, and debris from the downed drone fell in Malekhiv, damaging private houses.
On October 16, jet-powered drones attacked the Lviv region again. Air defense forces shot down three enemy drones. A man was injured by falling debris in Dubliany, while windows were blown out in residential buildings in Murovane.
On October 18, a Russian attack damaged a logistics complex in Malekhiv, near Lviv. After a drone was shot down, its debris pierced the roof of an industrial building, and a fire broke out on the warehouse premises.
Yurii Ihnat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force, explained why Russian jet-powered Shahed drones can reach Ukraine's western regions.
According to him, the flight range depends on the drone's design, fuel capacity, warhead weight, and installed equipment. In particular, reducing the payload makes it possible to carry more fuel and cover greater distances.
